Cuppa Squirrel

I didn’t make time for a visit to the nature center this morning before heading off to work, so I had to make do with a squirrel shot out the window. Look at him, just snarfing up all the bird food.

Not a Titmouse

I saw this when I opened the blinds this morning, but I only had time for a quick cell phone snap – she was gone by the time I grabbed my camera.

This photo is a little murky, mainly because I was shooting through an old distorted window and a big rosemary shrub (note to self: I need to prune that sucker back), so terms like “amazing clarity” and “sharp focus” will not be used to describe this image. I decided to post it anyway because when something as cute as a titmouse in a teacup happens, you just have to share.

Looking for the good stuff

The titmouse pair are so fun to watch. They dig through the feeder looking for the particular kind of seed they like, take just one, then fly up to a branch and start pecking at it. Once they have finished that course, they fly back down and start all over again.

Mod Flowers (Part 2)

Last month I posted a photo of some acrylic flower dishes I found at a flea market. Since then I’ve glued wooden disks and dowels to them, and now they’re little bird feeders for the garden.

Taking a Break

The weather was so nice yesterday – our first really warm day of the year. I spent the day tidying up the garden and setting out some flowering plants for the bees and wasps that were buzzing about. This one stopped off for a drink of water from a different kind of flower.
