Doggie Diner

The Doggie Diner mascot sign at a winery in Amador CountyThe Doggie Diner was a bay area chain of restaurants when I was a kid – I think the last one closed in the 80s. The doggie head could be seen on a pole above the restaurant, and there is still one doggie head in San Francisco that was granted landmark status. The other heads are scattered far and wide. I spotted this doggie in Amador County wine country sitting outside a tasting room. So surreal.
