Dandelion
After watering the garden I decided to take some closeups of calla petals, and on a whim snapped a couple of photos of the dandelions that are popping up around the yard (and probably the cause of my allergies). I loved the little curlicues in the middle of the flower – something I hadn’t noticed before uploading this photo.
Blueberry
I have a blueberry bush that is currently blossoming. It has produced fruit the last two or three years, so it must have blossomed before, but I don’t remember seeing these flowers. I’m just noticing them this year. Maybe it’s because I have had more free time to hang out in the garden lately. 🙂
Garbanzo!
I love me some garbanzo beans, but I had never tried growing them myself. When I found some dried beans a couple of weeks ago I decided to plant them in seed pots and stick them in the greenhouse. I was amazed when I returned from vacation this week and found the resulting seedlings already a few inches tall. I hope I will get to harvest some legumes later this year.
I’m also trying out a new photo editing app called Snapseed, hence the funky filter.
Momentary Mushroom
I noticed three tiny mushrooms growing in my tomato seedling pots earlier today, so I took some photos. A couple of hours later, *poof* they were gone. Just a tiny, shriveled pile of fibers was left behind to mark the spot where each mushroom once grew.
Sprouts
Today I’m using a cell phone camera (trying out a new phone). I have an old fireplace in my house that really can’t be trusted with a fire, so I’m using it as a seedling nursery. Currently black prince tomato seedlings are growing there.
Gardening at Night
I was inspired by @lonewolfman to shoot some flashlight photos of daffodils. Mine didn’t turn out as cool as his though. Oh well, I’ll have to work at it some more.
Winter’s End
When the daffodils start blooming I know that winter is truly on its way out. I tried to get up close and personal with this one, but the gusty wind made it difficult.
Buds to Blossoms
Last week they were buds, but this week actual flowers. Spring is just around the corner.
