Looking for a Snack
This little titmouse and its mate have been working the garden this week, looking for spiders and other insects to eat. They are extremely active and vocal – a lot of fun to watch as they flit around, chattering to each other.

We Like the Moon!
I was feeling all out of sorts because I totally missed the “supermoon” this time around. I’m usually on top of these things, but I spaced it. “Spaced” it. 😉 Anyway, I woke up ridiculously early this morning and was outside searching for lost keys when I happened to look up and saw this big ol’ full moon over my head, craters and all. Thanks for hanging around, Moon.
Destroyed
My hydration backpack after I had to cut it up. So sad. I had only used the pack a few times after purchasing it last year when the zipper just stopped working. It would spontaneously gap open leaving the contents at risk of spilling out while I was in the middle of some outdoorsy activity such as kayaking – goodbye sunblock!
I contacted the manufacturer, not expecting much, but to my extreme delight and surprise they offered to replace the backpack with a comparable model even though I had owned mine for over a year. First I had to cut the logo out of my current pack and take a photo to send to them, which I had a hard time bringing myself to do. I loved this backpack and I knew that the replacement model would be different since mine was no longer available; however, I couldn’t really use it with a non-functioning zipper.
Flash forward to Aug 17 when I finally have gotten around to filling in some gaps in my project and uploading this photo. I have a new backpack! After perusing the product web site I sent in my 3 choices of comparable packs and quickly received my top choice, which is actually a step up from my first one!
By the way, the manufacturing company is High Sierra. Great customer service.
Bloop Bloop
One of my catfish, the one with the stumpy fins. He’s special. On this day I swapped the gravel at the bottom of the fish tank for some nice new sand, which is better for the bottom dwellers like this guy. He looks a little depressed here, but I think he actually loves his new “floor”.
Let Me Google That…
I better not have any extra data charges this month.
Suncatcher
Today I melted plastic beads in the oven and made suncatchers. I still need to drill holes, but once they’re hanging outside I’ll probably take some more photos. Such a quick and easy project, and the finished suncatchers look like they are made out of colored glass.

Surfin’ Birds
I grew up on the beach, and I can’t say I ever saw a mother duck take her ducklings out into the surf until now. After multiple attempts, and repeatedly getting washed back into shore, the duck family finally made it past the breakers and headed out toward open sea.
