Happy Halloween
I could claim that this is a Halloween decoration, but the truth is he hangs out here year round.
Eastbound
I was downtown this morning and snapped a photo while I was waiting for the train to pass. This was actually the only photo I took today, so there it is.

I found two of these disgustingly fascinating grubs while pulling up old tomato plants today. I found out that they’re European Chafer beetle larvae. The beetle itself isn’t horrible looking, but these larvae are something else. Their bodies are kind of translucent, which makes some of their interior parts visible. :-O
Apple Hill
I went to the land of quaint barns and apple orchards today. Apple Hill is about 45 minutes east of where I live and it’s mandatory to go there at least once each fall for apple pickin’, pie eatin’ and pumpkin gatherin’. I didn’t do any of that, but I did score an apple doughnut.
Prepper Sunday
I’m being lazy and using today’s Instagram pic here as well. Today I made salted caramel apple butter and peach BBQ sauce (pictured). Peeps are getting jars of food for the holidays.
Anna’s Hummingbird
I’ve spotted some different birds around my house recently; nuttall’s woodpecker, northern flicker, black phoebe – all birds that I can typically see a couple of miles away near the river, but not so much up at my house. However, I haven’t managed to get one photo of any of the new visitors, so here’s a photo of a bird I see here every day….again. đŸ™‚
