As I was peeling my orange and admiring the beautiful colors inside it occurred to me that I should snap some photos. Lunch had to wait.
The Fruits of My Labor
It’s blood orange season, and that means marmalade!
Citron
I thought I’d do one more photo shoot with the fingered citron before I zest it into a marmalade.
What is it?
A trip to the farmer’s market today turned up this bunch of odd looking fruit. Yellow calamari? Squash blossoms? That face-hugger from “Alien”? Nope, just a variation of citron, “Fingered Citron”, which is also known as “Buddha’s Hand”. It smells wonderful.
Inaugural Cookies
My old oven died a couple of weeks ago, and today its replacement was finally installed. I celebrated by baking cowboy cookies. I’m feeling very fortunate that I have a working oven again, so I thought it was fitting that the first food that was made with it should be the subject of my photo of the day.
Kombucha
Bottling some tea tonight.

World Market sea salt dark chocolate and a glass of tempranillo. 2013 is looking good so far.
