It was a little depressing today, taking inventory of the frost damage in my garden, but I was so happy to see these purple buds peeking out from the foliage on the trellis. I don’t remember the name of this plant (edit: hardenbergia), but its early blossoms are a welcome sight.
I live in Northern California in an area where it doesn’t freeze as much as it does elsewhere… still, the weather lately has been plenty cold enough for me. I’m looking forward to warmer days.
I saw so many deer at the nature center today, and this guy was bossing all of them around.

Here sits the reason that I’m not uploading a photo of an adorable white-crowned sparrow that was at the feeder this evening.
Occasionally the domos escape and commit tiny acts of rebellion.
I was happy to see that the robins are still around. A pair was perched in the mulberry trees in my yard for a brief time so I was able to get some better photos.
Today I took dozens of photos of uncooperative robins doing all sorts of interesting things just out of range of my lens, or behind dense foliage. I did get a couple of relatively clear shots, but wasn’t completely happy with them. Meanwhile, this dove was sitting up on the wire the whole time watching my attempts. Maybe he’s not as glamorous as a robin, but he does know how to sit still for a photo.
Actually some mancala pieces I found while rummaging through my craft supplies today. More photo fun with glass.
As I was peeling my orange and admiring the beautiful colors inside it occurred to me that I should snap some photos. Lunch had to wait.
